Inspiration for the Dodge Rat Rod Truck. (Wheel/Tire Selection)

Posted on April 29, 2020May 12, 2020 by scott.mcgregor

So I spent a long time looking for inspiration and direction I wanted to take this build and I stumbled across this truck.

This became the direction, obviously building a truck of this caliber was way way out of my league but it gave me a direction I wanted to head. A rat rod look with modern off-road truck under the hood. So first order this I needed to buy was wheels and tires, I really wanted to keep this simple so I sourced these wheels.

I ended up purchasing a full set of 17″ x 10″ wheels with a 6 x 5.5 lug pattern. 5 inch offset.

For tires I just found a used set off Kijiji locally as I just needed a set of tires to get the build started and who knows how long its actually gonna take me to get this thing on the road. So I didn’t want to put out big bucks on tires.

I found a set of 35″ Goodyear wrangler tires LT315/ 70R17 I think I got them for 250 bucks for all 4. The guy I bought them from just wanted them gone. Lucky me.

Wheels and Tires set I could start thinking about other parts of the build.

crammed together to see what wheels and tires would look like with truck.
